IP protection for Ukrainian businesses building abroad

Setting up a company in another country, launching an online store or preparing to raise investment? We help Ukrainian founders work out how to protect their brand, product and team’s work in the markets that matter. We start with what you have created, who owns it and where you plan to do business.

/ 01

Where are you in the process?

You have a name, but have not ordered packaging or booked advertising. This is a useful point to check the brand and consider trademark protection.

Founders, freelancers and an agency all contributed to the product. Before an investor asks, it is worth checking which rights the company actually holds.

Your business is established in Ukraine and entering another market. We review whether existing rights cover that territory and what needs attention before launch.

Someone is using your images, name or design. We start with the evidence and the rights involved, then consider a suitable response.

/ 02

What we help protect

Trademarks concern names and logos. Patents concern technical inventions. Design rights concern how a product looks. Copyright covers qualifying creative work, including code, photographs and text. Contracts establish who can use these assets and on what terms.

If the starting point is unclear, we can discuss an IP audit: a review of your assets, supporting documents and gaps in protection.

/ 03

How work begins

Tell us about the business, countries and immediate decision. We clarify the assets and documents involved, explain the options and agree the scope. Before a paid stage begins, we discuss the budget, separating our work from official fees and other anticipated expenses.

The first conversation helps identify a next step. A full search, document audit or application is a separate piece of work with an agreed scope.

/ 04

Tell us about your next market

Leave a contact, the country and a short description of your task. Please keep source code, unpublished drawings and other confidential material out of the initial message. We will first agree how to exchange it.

Questions about business IP protection

Where should a Ukrainian-founded business start with IP protection abroad?

Start with three questions: what has the business created, who owns the rights and which markets will it operate in? Brands, technical inventions and creative work need different approaches. Zakhyst helps identify priorities and agree the next step, such as a brand check, an IP audit or support for a particular asset.

Which intellectual property assets does our company need to protect?

Focus on the assets your business depends on. A shop may rely on its name, packaging and photographs; a SaaS business on code, branding and rights to the team’s work; a manufacturer on technical solutions and product design. We first identify the key assets, then consider suitable protection.

Can we contact Zakhyst from outside Ukraine?

Yes. Tell us where your business operates, where you sell and what you need help with. We assess the scope we can handle and any need for local representation for the relevant jurisdiction. The founder’s place of residence does not itself determine where IP rights provide protection.

What determines the cost of intellectual property protection?

The cost depends on the assets, countries, available documents and agreed tasks. A brand check, a rights audit and dispute support involve different work. Before a paid stage begins, we agree the budget and distinguish professional fees, official charges and anticipated additional expenses.

Does incorporating abroad protect our brand?

Incorporation alone does not replace trademark checks and protection. The name, rights holder and territory of use need separate consideration.

Can we speak before launching?

Yes. Describe what you are building and where you intend to sell. You do not need to know the name of the legal procedure you need.
